Kim Mardis Roncadori

Coach Kim started training in after watching her son in the kids’ class for a few months. What started out as a way to be more active and get in better shape turned into new lifestyle. One year later, at age 42 - she fought in her first tournament. She lost, but that inspired an even deeper fire to improve and learn from each mistake. She received her blue belt that summer and went on to win Gold in the next IBJJF tournament. Training became part of daily life and by the 2 year mark, she had lost over 60 pounds. Her son was still training and her teenage daughter started training as well. In June of 2018 she won Gold at both Gracie Barra Regionals (gi) and at IBJJF U.S. Nationals (no-gi). Gracie Barra was already her family but became even more so when she married Frank Roncadori at Master World’s later that summer. Now any given day you can find Kim and Frank and all of their kids on that mats – Olivia (15), Sam (13) and Gracie (7). “I get tears in my eyes when I think about how Gracie Barra has improved my life. It’s not just a brand, it’s a family of teammates. The friends I’ve made in training are just some of the best people I’ve ever met. The mentality here is to pull others up with you and is demonstrated by every rank along the way. Training and competing provide ups, downs, plateaus, elations, frustrations, and everything in between. I’ll never regret taking that first step and tying my white belt.”
